ePrism 5.1 introduces significant new features for the ePrism 500 filtering appliance!
Note: For those who will be upgrading from 5.0 revisions (like 5.002) to 5.1, you may want to suppress the "Welcome Message" from being sent to users since your necessary address mappings are likely to already exist. Please see "Disabling the ePrism 500 Welcome Message (user email)".
Global Whitelisting/Blacklisting, configured by the Administrator, is now provided in addition to Personal Whitelisting/Blacklisting.
Go to Appliance Manager > Mail Administration and Reports > Administration. The layout is exactly the same as the Personal Whitelist/Blacklist screen users see, except it says Global.
Use Help (highlighted below) > Setting global whitelists/blacklists (look in navigation pane) for precedence rules regarding Global/Personal Blacklists/Whitelists. Enter entries, and use Add (highlighted below) to populate the lists.

The Administrative interface for creating, editing, and removing user accounts and traps was entirely replaced. All accounts are now accessed from a single screen.
Accounts can be viewed by Account for the login name, or Address for the email address(es). Note that the former address mapping display has been moved to reports and is no longer used to manipulate address entries; this is now done on the Account Maintenance Screen, under Email Addresses section.
Go to Appliance Manager > Mail Administration and Reports > Administration > User Accounts
Use Add (highlighted below) to manually add accounts. Once added, clicking the account name (marthstewart below) brings up Account settings: and Email addresses: which can be edited as needed. If you prefer, you may view/edit Account settings: and Email addresses: by email address, as shown in the 2nd screen shot.
NTLM integration plus correct use of ePrism Welcome Messages by users to login to ePrism populates the account list below with NTLM account names with the form of emaildomain\username. Clicking these names (or addresses) will also allow editing Account settings: and Email addresses:

This feature is located in the Account Maintenance screen (discussed above), and allows the administrator to disable SPAM checking, file extension, and attachment type checking on a per-user basis.
When editing individual User Accounts, you can Uncheck "Check messages addressed to this account for SPAM" (highlighted below) to disable SPAM checking for the specific user account you are working with. This is known as a "Whitelisted Recipient". Note: Virus checking is not affected by this setting.

Note: Virus checking will still be performed on all email.
An ePrism SPAM Policy screen was added to the ePrism 500 initial setup to assist Administrators in selecting a spam detection and reporting profile.
This screen allows the Administrator to determine if users will see tagged SPAM, or not.
The default of Tag and Pass means users will receive email tagged as shown below (note that subject tag can be changed now or later). Users can then decide if the email is SPAM or not. Users can setup folder routing based on the subject tag below.
LightFiltering and HeavyFiltering prevent tagged email from being delivered to users at all. Instead, the SPAM is rejected outright. This can be beneficial in environments where users require a high level of protection from potentially inappropriate emails.

Multiple (comma delimited) DNS IP-Addresses are now allowed.
An upgraded Heuristics engine (for emails that get past eGuard) should provide greatly improved SPAM recognition and slightly faster run times.
Emails the Administrator (and possibly others) a nightly summary of messages held in quarantine. Simply configure one or more comma delimited email addresses.
Specifying an email address below tells ePrism to notify the recipient about quarantined (held) email, nightly.

Links between report data and details of particular messages are introduced. Additional filtering capabilities have been added.
The ability to send a report being viewed to an email address specified by the Administrator has been added.
Go to Appliance Manager > Mail Administration and Reports > Reports

Improvements were made to make this screen more intuitive for the user. Compare 5.1 vs. 5.0
Many small improvements and enhancements have been made in the Appliance setup & GUI, and management, maintenance, and diagnostics areas.
