Applies To: Model 500
During the initial ePrism configuration, you will identify an existing domain name server so that ePrism 500 can use it for domain name resolution (translation of domain/hostnames to IP addresses).
Additionally, you will want to be prepared to contact the DNS Administrator, inside or possibly at an ISP.
They will need to do two small but important things:
Add your ePrism Hostname to the DNS Server (This is best done before installation so that 1) the self-check on ePrism Hostname will pass, verifying a correct DNS entry, and so that 2) the automatic Welcome Message sent to users will resolve the ePrism hostname embedded in the link).
Note: Adding the ePrism Hostname to the DNS server is particularly important for handling outbound internet email, as other mail servers will understand they are talking to a legitimate email server. Please see:
Modify the MX (Mail Exchange) Record to point to the ePrism 500 to start filtering inbound email (This is best done after install so you can control when email filtering actually starts).
Note: The MX Record for the ePrism 500 MX Record should be given a high priority if there are multiple MX Records. A higher priority is a lower number.
