ePrism is a perimeter based, e-mail security appliance, providing a layered, defense-in-depth architecture shielding internal mail systems. ePrism will be assigned the IP address designated as the MX record listed in DNS. This IP address can be assigned directly to ePrism or applied as a NAT rule on the firewall, with ePrism located in a DMZ or internal network. Then, ePrism must be configured to accept what domain names it accepts mail for and where it should send the mail to. This is accomplished in Mail Routing found under Mail Delivery. This completes inbound mail routing. The internal mail server must be configured to deliver mail to a smart host to deliver outbound mail through ePrism. The smart host specified on the internal mail server would be ePrism.
