The STA database becomes polluted if an internal mail source receives mail directly from the Internet (as a result of misconfiguring the firewall) and sends outbound mail to ePrism. It is important to specify all trusted and untrusted sources of mail. STA database pollution lowers the accuracy rate when determining what messages are valid and SPAM.
