Why am I still receiving a large amount of SPAM after installing ePrism?

Applies To: Models 1000, 2000, 3000

Check how many MX records exist for each domain setup on ePrism. Connect to each MX record on port 25 to see what the SMTP Banner response is. If any banner appears that isn't related to ePrism, then the extra SPAM is likely coming from that server. Also, check the headers of the message (on the mail client) to verify the message was processed by ePrism. This can be used as a backdoor by spammers to bypass ePrism. Check the firewall rules to ensure that port 25 is not open for any other IP address. Using a port scanning utility will help verify that no ports are open. Another possibility entry point is through web services, which can exist in a variety of formats from feedback forms to WebMail.
