Trusted sources are determined by the setting on the interface. By default, ePrism trusts mail that is local.
For example, ePrism IP: 192.168.5.7/255.255.255.0 and Mail Server IP: 192.168.5.9/255.255.255.0.
ePrism trusts and trains any mail from mail sources located on the same local subnet. Using this same example, any mail that ePrism receives from any mail source using an IP address not on the same local subnet, i.e. Mail Server IP: 10.6.7.5/255.0.0.0, ePrism will process the message for SPAM. Exceptions to the rule can be created using PBMF.
For v5.0, the rule of thumb is to create an entry in PBMF for every trusted mail source that is not on the same local subnet as ePrism.
For v6.0, the rule of thumb is to create an entry in SAP (not PBMF) for every trusted mail source that is not on the same local subnet as ePrism. To do so, go to:
Mail Delivery > Mail Access > Add Pattern button
Pattern is the IP address of the trusted mail server.
Check Client Access (see below), then
Select "Trust" in the If Pattern Matches drop-down (see below).
